This romantic pendant features a 15ct gold swallow decorated with 9 creamy and original seed pearls on its body. (Romantic symbolism was prevalent in the Victorian era and swallows represented fidelity and love, as swallows mate for life, and always return to their nests). The swallow, which has bright amethyst cabachon eyes, holds a large amethyst heart dangling from its beak, creating some soft movement.
The swallow is not hallmarked on its body, but it has been tested for 15ct Gold. It weighs 1.68g and measures 2.7cm x 1.7cm. The amethyst heart measures 8mm x 9mm and is claw set securely. This pendant comes with the light 9ct gold chain shown in the pictures.
This antique pendant remains in wonderful condition, despite its 100 years. Signs of soldering show on its underside where the bale has been attached, but this cannot be seen when worn, and does not detract from the beauty of this piece.
